New Year's Resolutions

January 1, 2015Uncategorized

Ahhh. . . It’s that time of year again where we sit down and reflect on the year that’s past.  New Year’s Resolutions are a great way to motivate yourself to reach new goals in your life.  Everyone is different; therefore, everyone has different hopes and aspirations.  My one piece of advice before you decide what you want to achieve in the new year is: dream big.  Resolutions shouldn’t be restricted to losing weight or eating more vegetables; they can be mental, even spiritual, as well.  Having a positive mind and surrounding yourself with love is my definition of success.  I like this quote by Albert Schweitzer:  “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.”  Keep that in mind this year as you make changes to your lifestyle.

My goals for the new year:

WORRY LESS.  I have spent so much of 2014 living with stress, and I think it may be time to change that.  I’m not sure where exactly to start with this one.  Maybe it’s just as simple as changing my outlook on life.
PRODUCE MORE CONTENT.  I started this blog in 2014, and I never imagined it would bring me so much joy.  This year, I hope to mold this little site into more of a community.  I also hope to experiment more with my Youtube channel in the new year.  I’d love your feed back as I work on this!
TRY NEW THINGS.  I mean this in almost every sense of the phrase: food, travel, relationships and so on.  I’ve never really had too much of a problem with this; however, I am not exactly known to be open to change.

Anyways, on to the girly stuff…

BEAUTY RESOLUTIONS

1. Wash your makeup brushes.

This is one of my beauty resolutions this year.  Deep cleaning them once a week is ideal, but I’m no angel.  I plan on doing this at least twice every month with baby shampoo.  Basically, you want just to avoid using a highly alcoholic soap that would strip the bristles.  I’ve also used a combination of dish soap and olive oil that worked just fine for me.  Another option is using a spot cleanser.  Rather tan paying over $10, try this recipe:
The shampoo is optional!
Combine these into a spray bottle.  Then spray onto a paper towel and swipe the product on the tips of your brushes away!

2. Take your makeup off!

This is seriously seriously important.  Sleeping in your makeup can cause clogged pores which leads to breakouts.  You don’t even have to use a full-on cleanser-water combination; cleansing toilettes work just fine for me!  If you have acne-prone skin, try Stridex or any other pads that have salicylic acid in the ingredients.  Though messier, using an eye-remover with a little oil in it makes removing waterproof makeup SO much easier.  Your eyes, and dark circles, will thank you.

3. Skip makeup on the weekends!

Piling on makeup during the week tires the skin.  If it’s at all possible, try ditching your heavy foundation and eyeliner to give your skin a much needed break!  Use the break as an opportunity to give yourself a little facial.

Thanks for the memories.  Wishing you all the best in 2015.

XoXo, Zo
